A Study on Nurse Affairs of Daegu City School Nurse or Teacher with an Additional Position of Nurse


Abstract
In order to survey the situation of nurse affairs of school nurse or, teacher with an additional position of nurse throughout primary, middle and high schools in Daegu city, I have studied there of for a month from November 1, 1973 to November 30, 1973. The result of my survey has been conc¡þluded as follows:
1. In reference¢¥ to the distribution and qualification of school nurse or teacher with an additional position, those of regular school nurse have come under 35.7% -And their average ages are 30.9 years while 30-34 years are predominant that come under 35.7%. Referring to the possession of qualification, 64.2%¢¥ of regular school nurse ¢¥have been in possession of Qualification of school nurse while 4.4% in possession of Independent Certificate of school nurse. _The qualification of teacher with an additional position has been predominant in teacher of army training or gymnastics.
2. ¢¥On school educational atmosphere, the¢¥ number of students from 1,500 to 2,000 have come under 24.1% which is predominant, and Sebum Primary School has the largest number of students, 5,724 while the Beommul Primary School has only 24 students. One classroom has been accommodated by the majority number of 65-69 -students which is predominant. But only 6.0% has kept on the accommodation regulation. The establishment ¢¥of running water has been used at 80.1%. 61.2% of latrine and 40.5% of trash system have been taken care of by city hall for clearance.
3. The result of survey on problems in business affairs of school nurse or : teacher with an addi¡þtional position is as follows: The most difficult and Important matter for them to take care of has been on the emergency patients. 82.8% of school nurse has been engaged in this case with subjecti¡þvity. Another difficult problem that they can not treat patient happens in the absence of medical
doctor. Because of medical treatment regulation, the are not supposed to handle .with patients, but doctors. This-makes them. embarrassment situation. _to some- extent The reajustment of medical. regulation which seems quite adaptable to present situation as well as the recognition of necessity of school health affairs by_ schools and people concerned are¢¥ necessary. The¢¥higher¢¥and¢¥advanced education for school nurse as well as readjustment of qualification are grave things to think over again.
